Bulls Island

Ok, so we went to Bulls Island to see the sights.  It supposedly is a nature preserve.  The trip there was cute with a fun Naturalist giving information about the flora and fauna of the marshes and the coastal areas of the Carolinas.  What he didn't mention was the bugs.  We tried to walk the 2 miles to "Alligator Alley", but could only get half way because I was a walking bug restaurant!  They feasted on me!  I probably has 300 bites on my arms and legs.  We turned around to go back to the water's edge where the wind kept the bugs away.  Harry kept going on to the East Beach to see the dunes, but he was eaten also.  On the way back, the tide had turned, and the water had fallen 5 feet to expose the oysters and the mud flats.

Charleston October 15

We're here in Charleston visiting Harry for the weekend. I'm reacquainting myself with blogging in preparation for our upcoming trip to India. Ann is VERY prepared; I'm getting myself there. As for this weekend, it should be fun and fattening!
The trip here had an interesting twist.  For the first time in my life, I encountered a rude Southwest Airlines agent.  I was making the horrid mistake of carrying a suitcase, a computer bag AND a camera bag.  It seems that in this fascist era, that is too much.  She came down the ramp after me and yelled about how I couldn't do that.  I tried to blow her off, but she insisted we do something.  She also yelled at Ann for carrying her suitcase, her purse and her camera.  "Six bags between you two!!!"  When I tried to stuff my camera into my suitcase (which actually worked), she started yelling about how it was going to damage the overhead bins.  I basically told her to go away, it would be fine and I kept going.  The people behind us volunteered that they would have been willing to carry the camera!
